Benefits of the Arts

There is plenty of research supporting the use of arts to enhance health and wellbeing. Participating in the arts and cultural activities even a few times a month can improve your odds against developing dementia, mental health issues, and even some physical illnesses. Creating art, whether that's painting or dancing, can help reduce stress, create connections between people, and boost self-esteem and confidence!

Our Story

In 2014 the Malcom Randall VA and University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine partnered to include the Creative Arts Therapies (music, visual art, dance/movement, theater) in the VA's Rural Veterans TeleRehabilitation Initiative (RVTRI). Since then, the UF Center for Arts in Medicine and Malcom Randall VA have often worked together in providing veterans with the arts and educating students on the intersection of arts and the military.
